Picnic Stories

Staple together a picnic basket shaped book. Inside students can write a story about a memorable picnic they had or make up a picnic story. They can draw, cut, and paste pictures of the picnic food inside the basket. Basket can be glued on a woven paper table cloth.

Summer Sizzles

Have students brainstorm a list of words that describe the summer heat. Then they can write a free style poem called Summer Sizzles. To publish students can draw and cut out faces from construction paper. They can cut large black sunglasses, write their poem on them with a white crayon, and glue them onto the face.
